Tips on Booking Wheelchair-Accessible Airbnb

Earlier this year, we tried to book a getaway at a cottage resort. When I mentioned that I use a wheelchair and needed an accessible house, the manager assured me that they have three houses that have wheelchair-accessible ramps, I should be able to get into the house without barriers. However, when I arrived, none of the houses were actually wheelchair accessible. When booking a vacation at a private home, it’s important to do a lot of investigation ahead of time, ask additional questions and ask for pictures and measurements. Do not assume that the information provided by the host suits your accessibility needs.
