Christine Honsl sustained a spinal cord injury in 1990. Trained as a social worker, Christine was very independent for many years. The mindset she had in the early days post-injury was to use equipment as necessary, but to use as little as possible. Looking back now, Christine thinks there may have been some resistance to accepting a disability and even some shame that contributed to her mindset.
Now Christine has a lot of experience in adapting, accepting and mindfulness. She joins us to share strategies to maintain quality of life with aging, the importance of prevention, what it has meant to her to connect with other peers, and the equipment that makes a difference in her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
