Lisa Livingston is an Employment Services Manager with March of Dimes Canada. As a Registered Rehabilitation Professional, Certified Vocational Professional and as a previous Registered Kinesiologist, Lisa has worked in the disability sector for 25 years. She joins us to talk about SkillingUp, a free, online program providing digital skills training for Canadians living with a disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t have to be a tech expert to start SkillingUp. Beginners learn basic computer skills, like connecting to Bluetooth, using a USB key, and managing and organizing Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People at the intermediate level have worked with programs like MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and may have used computers or technology at your job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People at the advanced level have handled security problems and installed software on your own computer. Perhaps you know how to code or have worked in IT. But there\u2019s still more to learn!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SkillingUp\u2019s certification programs are widely recognized by industry leaders and employers as proof of your expertise in a chosen field. The certifications you receive from SkillingUp will validate your expertise. They also increase your ability to land a better job, earn a promotion, and secure a higher salary with employers who rely on certified professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone should have access to the knowledge, technology and opportunities to thrive in today\u2019s digital-first world. SkillingUp gives people with disabilities the skills and self-confidence to be successful in jobs that require digital skills. To participate in SkillingUp you must be at least 16 years old and live in Canada, and have a disability or experience barriers to employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
