How to Answer Illegal Interview Questions

Today, we are discussing how to answer illegal interview questions, employment discrimination and how people with disabilities can navigate these questions in a professional way. Job Developer Errol Cyrus at Spinal Cord Injury Ontario is talking about how to deal with and answer illegal questions during a job interviews. It should be very helpful for any job seeker who has a disability. First and foremost, always try to stay professional, calm and use a neutral tone. When you respond appropriately, you make the interviewer aware that you know that a particular question is inappropriate and illegal. If the employer continues to ask illegal questions, it is your right to refuse to answer the question. And of course, you always have the option to leave the interview. Common illegal or inappropriate questions are those that concern age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, and nationality, just to name a few. Any question topic that is irrelevant to your qualifications to fulfill the responsibilities of the job should be considered off-limits.
