Megan has worked in Recreation since 2012 and has a passion for working in and supporting her community. Megan studied nursing at both college and university. She has worked as a nurse in acute and community care settings. Throughout her nursing experience Megan has grown to understand and truly appreciate that medical care and attention is only a small part of someone’s overall health, when health and wellness is examined through the social determinants of health. Megan knows the importance of community, play and access to resources. She believes that everyone in her community should be able to live, work and play where they live to see the best health and wellness outcomes.
Participating in adaptive recreational activities and exercise aids in the recovery process, improves physical fitness, and enhances overall well-being. The City of Barrie’s dedication to providing adaptive recreational opportunities underscores their commitment to health and well-being for all.
Adaptive recreational activities are made possible through the use of specialized adaptive recreation equipment and are often organized through adaptive recreation programs and recreational therapy. Exercise is vital for physical and emotional well-being, promoting strength, flexibility, and overall health.
